Community partners, the 9/17 Society and AMVETS, worked together to provide pocket Constitutions for every 8th-grade social studies student in the district.

Made up of fourth and fifth grade students, the school’s Flag Crew learned how to properly raise, lower and fold the flag daily, as well as how to lower it to half-staff upon order presidential proclamation. The Flag Crew members received a lapel pin in recognition of their training.
Leffew has visited Smyrna Primary for this purpose for several years at the invitation of Rebecca Wheeler, a longtime educational assistant at the school. Flag Crew members will receive a certificate from the Daughters of the American Revolution for their dedication at Smyrna Primary’s year-end awards ceremony.
